Sewing room intervention

This last week was another week wasted on the computer.  If I could make a living off the internet, I would be ecstatic and rich.  I think I have seen every quilting blog in the universe the last few days.  I have a lot more ideas for projects I'd love to start including a scruffy quilt, raw edge circle quilt, disappearing nine patch quilt, squares askew and the list goes on and on.... but what about the ones I have already started?  This is my problem.... my sewing room....

It is very hard to get motivated when your sewing room looks like this.
You can see the start of organizing by the piles of project ideas on the table lol

What I need is some serious shelving and organizers and a place to put all the other "non sewing" stuff.  What do you do with all of your sewing supplies/fabric? help please! lol

  1. My "sewing room" is currently our formal dining room (the large table is great for cutting and machine quilting). My husband calls it the formal sewing room. He thinks he is funny. lol I purchased a 9-drawer dresser at a charity shop and painted it black. It serves as our buffet and I store some of my sewing stash there and all of my notions. It works for now but I am gearing up to buying a machine cabinet and cutting table so I can move it all into the spare room. I can't wait to see how your room turns out. I'm always looking for some inspiration.

  2. It took years before I actually got a sewing room of my own. Once I even used the small little closet that fits into the area where stairs are. The chair had to be outside the door! Had to wait until most of the kids moved out before I had a room with cupboards and drawers. It seems to always be in a state of confusion although I seem to work better if all my fabric is at the ready for me to create. Sometimes I do clean it all up just to start another project and pull half of it out of the cupboards again.
