Say It With Flowers Blog Hop entry

June 3rd is my day to show you my entry for the "Say It With Flowers Blog Hop."  I would like to thank Madame Samm from Sew We Quilt and Carol from Just Let Me Quilt for allowing me to join such a fun blog hop.  Our sponsor is Andover Fabrics.

I've been wanting to make a "tree wall hanging" for a long time now and thought this would be a great time to do so, changing out leaves for flowers :)  I ironed on the fusible web to 3 colors of fabric and then got out the Cricut!
I was able to cut 3 flowers with the Cricut but then it got stubborn and would not cooperate, so I hand cut the rest.
Then I peeled off the paper backing and ironed the tree and flowers to the front of the white fabric.
For the binding I used Rae's "pretend binding" tutorial at Made By Rae. Very easy to follow.
Here is what I thought was the finished product.  But every time I looked at it, it was missing something.
These are closeups of the extras I added to the flowers.

Here is the mini quilt with tabs and below is the new version with added red buttons. I did not try any quilting in the white spaces as I was petrified of totally ruining the project.  Would you have added some quilting? and if so, what type?

Now it is finished.  Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my blog :)  Please continue to see the rest of the hop :)

  5. Your flower tree is lovely! Quilting it, well maybe just a cross hatch by hand, but not over the flower tree. Those little stands are wonderful aren't they. Thank you for sharing.

  9. I can never get my Cricut to cut fabric...your tree is beautiful. I probably would have done some quilting in the background, but then I tend to do that a lot. I think yours looks great just the way it is! :)

  15. your mini is cute...love what you added with thread detail. I am fond of straight line quilting in the white spaces these days, you might try it if you want to fill a space, a walking foot helps make it an easy option. But I think your tree is perfect as is :)

  24. I like the added red buttons and you could just maybe do some echoing quilting around the tree?

  25. I love the simplicity of it. It speaks volumes for the season!

  26. How cute and thanks for walking us through the process. I like the simple look and I don't think it needs any or much more quilting. The squiggles on the leaves no doubt held it down . Outline around the tree maybe.

I think some times we get all carried away with too much quilting especially on bed quilts and they no longer have any fluff or cuddle to them. Where is the fun of sleeping under something that feels like an army blanket? IMHO
